Why is it that when we know we've got essays to do, we spend all day reading, sleeping and playing solitaire endlessly. And then feel guilty for not doing anything, and therefore feel bad and so therefore read, sleep and play some more?
Essays are fun and much more exciting than sleeping/solitaire etc, You can make it more fun by timing yourself or by seeing how much jargon you can use. Long words are good too.
sorry - poor attempt humour - it's too early. stick to the sleeping.
It is because you are Human & not a machine to be switched on & OFF at will. Be kind to yourself & give yourself "TREATS" after say every 2hrs of Essay Writing. Thanks for the RAINBOW link. A Maggie xxxX
The treats thing sounds like a really good idea. Don't allow yourself solitaire until you've done an hour or 500 words of your essay. Set yourself work targets and reward yourself when you meet those targets.
the treats thing, good in theory but in practice? you still need the discipline. I think you need an element of pressure there somewhere. the thing that works for me best is to go somewhere else other than home, away from distractions. Could be with someone else for support. When I was studying recently, the best place was my mum's.

Now to go and pratice what I preach...!
I'm no good at the treat idea cuz if I feel bad I treat myself anyway to make myself feel better ;)
