If I ruled the world...

Good at maths anyone?

Total amount of money I receive for living at uni: £3473

Total amount of rent for the year: £2958
Estimated total amount of household bills for the year: £250+ (my share)

So that leaves me with round about £250 for the year for food, books, travel, socialising.

Good job I've got paid work while I'm at uni, which should give me £1000 for the year, giving me a grand total of just over £100 a month.

Money is fun isn't it.

On the other side of things, I will be in more than £12,000 debt when I leave university. Those who know me, know that I'm good with money - potentially a little too tight. So what about those who aren't? And how about the new fees this year? If someone takes the full loan, and has to pay all the fees, that's over £7000 a year, totalling more than £21,000 with interest after their degree. Isn't that a wonderful start to life? Is it worth it?

I read somewhere that about 75% of females never pay back all of their student loan ever.

Then we get to houses and mortgages. In short, unless I get a shockingly high paid job, probably more than my parents put together, I just won't be able to afford it.

Don't even start me on credit cards. I refuse to have one. I rang my bank the other day. They informed me that I was due a review on my overdraft since I use it so much (I keep it in my ISA :D). So I was put through to someone else, who said, 'Would you like a graduate credit card?' - a) I'm not a graduate for another year, and b) I don't want one!!!!!! Why are they asking me if I want one because I use my overdraft lots? - surely that means I'm in debt and therefore it is stupid to give more reason for me to be in debt? Or do they think that because I'm in debt, I will quite happily get more in debt - and therefore they'll get more money?

If only I ruled the world...

Banks - argh, ragh... lots of swear words......

£12,000 in debt. Man thats scary, and I say that from someone that has previously had serious debt problems (or thought I did) and am not good with money. I left uni around 9 year ago this month with about £4,000 of debt albeit I lived with my parents.

However I racked up other silly debts like a three piece suite at £4000 (don't ask) and other silly things like credit cards.

So keep fighting those banks as their ethics are evil at times, and I mean that.
